The Defending Champs, still in shorts with shoulder pads, began their first full week of practice on Monday, and we spoke with Dabo, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Diondre Overton and J.C. Chalk after practice. Dabo said he is very pleased with the defense and how the returning veterans have led the way. Freshman TE Davis Allen is still nursing a sore ankle but should be able to practice soon. I asked Dabo about freshman CB Andrew Booth getting work on punt returns, and he said that Booth has the potential to be a regular on punt returns along with Amari Rodgers and Derion Kendrick. He also said they'll look at K'Von Wallace on punt returns. Finally, Dabo is very pleased with how Diondre Overton has embraced the slot receiver position after debuting there last spring when Amari Rodgers tore his ACL. With Higgins and Ross splitting time at the boundary position, it wouldn't surprise me if Overton gets more playing time at slot this season, even after Rodgers returns.
Interviews are below, and I'll have photos from practice posted shortly!
