The Tigers will host the Gamecocks at 5:00 on Sunday, and we met with Brad Brownell to discuss the matchup. The Tigers are desperate for a win after a 3-game losing streak on the road that started with an overtime heartbreaker against No.21 Colorado in Las Vegas. The Tigers had a 6-point halftime lead on FSU in Tallahassee, but the Noles went 11-18 from beyond the arc in the second half, and the Tigers committed 18 turnovers, leading to a 19-point loss.
The Gamecocks are coming off a bad loss at home to Houston, but Frank Martin will have them ready to play on Sunday and itching to break their 3-year losing streak to the Tigers. The last time the Gamecocks beat the Tigers was in Greenville back in 2015. The Gamecocks are led by forward A.J. Lawson, who averages about 16 points per game and could be a matchup problem for the Tigers with his length on the perimeter.
I asked Brownell about Chase Hunter's prognosis, and he said that he practiced today and could play on Sunday if nothing goes bad in the next couple days. Jonathan Baehre made his return from a torn ACL last Sunday at FSU. He only played 13 minutes and didn't score, but the Tigers will need him going forward.
As always, I'll have live coverage from Littlejohn on Sunday, and the interview is below!
