CLEMSON, SC - It was a happy Valentine's Day for the Lady Tigers. After beating Western Carolina 8-0 in the second half of their inaugural home-opening doubleheader on Wednesday, the Tigers kept the momentum going with an impressive 5-1 win over Maryland in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Friday. The Terps struck first with a run in the 1st inning, but Valerie Cagle was outstanding the rest of the way, going 7 innings for a second straight outing. She allowed just 4 hits in the 2-0 loss to WCU on Wednesday and struck out 8 with 7 hits on Saturday.
True freshman Hannah Goodwin led the way for the Tigers, going 3-4 with an RBI, and redshirt freshman Jojo Hyatt was 2-3 with 2 RBI's. Marissa Guimbarda had the game's only home run.
The Tigers face the Terps again on Saturday at 12:30 and then play Michigan State at 5:30, wrapping up the challenge against the Spartans on Sunday. Post-game interviews are below!
