CLEMSON, SC - It was almost 3 years ago to the day since the last time the Tigers played a scoreless game through 9 innings, beating Elon 1-0 in 13 back on 2/24/17. The Tigers' offense was terrible today outside of sophomore Elijah Henderson, but what a job by the pitching staff, which has carried the Tigers since the season started! Henderson continues to be the story of the season offensively, reaching base all 5 times with a double and the game-winning single in the 10th. He is now .579 on the season!
Sharpe was superb in his 5 innings, striking out 6 with no walks, and freshman Nick Clayton was outstanding again out of the pen, getting his first career win. Sheldon Reed got a big K with runners on 2nd and 3rd but injured his pitching arm the next inning, and it didn't look good. Monte asked for prayers for him after the game.
Tigers are 6-0 and have allowed just 7 runs this season. They go for their second sweep tomorrow at noon. I'll have post-game interviews shortly!
