CLEMSON, SC - Saturday's game was much closer than Friday's, but the Tigers displayed their mental toughness and extended their win streak to 5 with a 5-4 win over No.4 Louisville to clinch their biggest series of the season. The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st thanks to a single by Grice, who had 3 HR's and 8 RBI's in Friday night's win. However, the Cards tied the game in the 3rd with a 2-out single off of Askew, and they scored 3 more with 2 outs in the 4th thanks to a hit batter, a catcher's interference call and an error by Hall at 2nd. Down 4-1, Monte stuck with his starter Askew, and it paid off. He went 2.2 more scoreless innings, including striking out the side in the 6th, and finished with 10 K's, no walks and 113 pitches. Like Friday night, Askew's deep start enabled Monte to save Gilbert and Hoffmann. They each pitched just one inning on Saturday, with Hoffmann getting the save.

After falling behind 4-1, Davis Sharpe reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the 4th, and perhaps that broke him out of his slump. He would score to make it 4-2, and he drove in a run in the next inning with an infield single to tie the game. That set the stage for Caden Grice's game-winning HR in the 8th, his 4th of the series and 12th of the season. He's now tied for 9th in the Power Five in HR's and tied for the most by any freshman!

The Tigers are on a tear and will look to sweep the Cards on Senior Day Sunday. Monte told me after the game that Mat Clark will likely get the start with Hoffmann having pitched an inning today. Post-game interviews are below!
