We just wrapped up with Dabo after another hot one on the practice fields. I asked him if Will Taylor would get a look on punt returns this season, and Dabo said absolutely! Ross, Shipley, Dixon and Will Swinney have also been working punts at practice. Taylor will eventually move to WR, but he offers Dabo a lot of options, and I’m sure we’ll see him used in a lot of different ways throughout his career. He’ll be great for double pass trick plays! Dabo is also excited about how quickly both Taylor and Wiles have picked things up at quarterback.
I also asked Dabo about Justin Foster, and he reiterated what Venables told me last night. Foster is in great shape physically and will be ready to provide depth to defensive end come September.
Finally, Dabo told me that Taisun looks really good physically, and I would guess he might be reinstated as backup for the UGA game if needed. Dabo said Hunter Helms has come a long way since last year too, though. So the QB situation isn’t nearly as dire as we thought it would be a few weeks ago!
The team will move to Jervey Meadows tomorrow morning for their annual change of scenery. Then they’ll be in Death Valley tomorrow evening for a walk-through. I’ll have tonight’s interview with Dabo posted shortly and more coverage tomorrow!
