Dabo broke the news to us on our Sunday evening Zoom call that Bryan Bresee did in fact tear his ACL, as we feared, at NC State on Saturday. He'll miss the rest of the season, of course, and hopefully be back for summer workouts. Tyler Davis tore his bicep last week against Georgia Tech, so the Tigers will be minus their two starting defensive tackles for the next 6-7 weeks, and they were already somewhat thin and young there after losing veterans Nyles Pinckney and Jordan Williams to the transfer portal last spring. Fortunately, Ruke Orhorhoro has been outstanding this season, earning Defensive MVP honors for the Georgia game he started, and Tre Williams has been solid as well. Darnell Jefferies and talented freshman Payton Page will get more playing time as a result, and they will also rotate DE Justin Foster inside and out until they get Davis back. Dabo said he is pleased with the development of Reuben Etinosa, so we will likely see more of him at tackle as well. It's amazing that as many mistakes as the Tigers made on Saturday with all the injuries, they still had a lead in double overtime! They've already had 6 defensive starters miss games due to injury, 2 are out for the season and another is out for 6-7 weeks.
